My name is Sadaiyappan, S/o Rasu Chettiyar. I am a farmer, residing at Kanurpudur Village of Avinashi Taluk of Coimbatore District. I involved in agriculture for past 40 years. I had a chance to participate in the awareness cum training programme under Front Line Demonstration on Cotton (Crop Production) conducted by SRI AVINASHILINGAM KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA, VIVEKANANDAPURAM, COIMBATORE DISTRICT, last year. In this programme myself and other participants were enlightened with lot of new cotton production techniques told by the Sri Avinashilingam Krishi Vigyan Kendra officials. Till then I adopted my own method of cotton cultivation. The new production techniques suggested by the SAKVK officials impressed me a lot and therefore I decided to adopt the techniques suggested by them. They gave me required training which boosted my confidence to try the new techniques. They gave me new cotton variety namely MCU – 12 and cultivated using new techniques. The officials of SAKVK were regularly making field visit and giving me valuable suggestions during field visit. I got an yield of 19.6 q/ha. which was much higher than the yield got by me using my conventional method.
